Abstract 431P

Background

Molecular biomarker testing is crucial for lung cancer management, enabling precision medicine. This study evaluates molecular testing practices in South Korean pathology laboratories.

Methods

A nationwide survey of 30 pathology laboratories assessed test initiation, sample types, biomarker coverage, methodologies, turnaround times, and challenges

Results

Molecular testing was performed by 63.3% of institutions as a reflex test, irrespective of tumor stage. Biopsy and resection were the primary sample types, with cytology used in 90% and blood in 43.3%. The failure rate due to inadequate tissue was

Conclusions

Molecular testing for lung cancer in South Korea is wellintegrated, with broad biomarker coverage and widespread NGS adoption. However, resource constraints, standardization, and sample quality remain challenges. Addressing these issues through infrastructure and policy support could improve testing efficiency.
