Abstract CN58
Background
The Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) is a national organization with a mission to advance oncology nursing excellence through practice, education, research, and leadership for the benefit of all Canadians, and a vision of being an international nursing leader in cancer control. CANO values that all Canadians deserve access to comprehensive oncology nursing care throughout their cancer trajectory, and that evidence-informed care is the foundation of excellence in cancer care nursing. As such, CANO has created resources, education, and practice guides in both English and French, which are used nationally by members to guide them and their employers in specialized oncology nursing practice.
Methods
The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of pivotal CANO educational and practice tools that can be integrated and adapted to support high-quality person-centered care for cancer patients and their families.
Results
Practical examples showcasing the utilization of these tools will be highlighted to enable visualization of their applicability to various settings for those looking to establish, enhance or maintain a standard for specialized knowledge, skills and competencies required for oncology nursing care.
Conclusions
By sharing and discussing approaches to adapt and incorporate these resources, CANO hopes to enhance oncology nursing and capacity from a national and global perspective.
