Abstract CN50
Background
Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are tools usually questionnaires, to assess elements of their experience such as symptom burden, functional status and psychological and emotional well-being from patient 's perspective on how illness or care impacts on their well being. The aim of our study is to analyse the psychophysical social well-being and quality of life of cancer patients prior to treatment, the approach of the multidisciplinary team to identify and manage patient needs, and the barriers and facilitators to the use of PROMs in a Slovenian tertiary oncology centre, in order to inform the wider uptake of PROMs.
Methods
From December 2022 to August 2023, PROMs data collected for patients accessing care at a tertiary cancer centre will be retrospectively analysed. Data will be collected using the standardised EORTC C30 questionnaire.
Results
The results will be used to identify, according to each of the domains, the physical, emotional, cognitive, social functioning and functioning, symptom burden, health status and quality of life of the patients before the start of treatment and the use of a multidisciplinary approach to meet the patient's needs. Perceived risks, barriers and facilitators to the use of PROMS will be presented.
Conclusions
This study will demonstrate the benefits of using systematic PROMs monitoring and follow-up to screen patients' needs and provide holistic approach for cancer patients. It will also highlight opportunities, barriers and facilitators to PROMS implementation occur.
