Abstract 330P
Background
With the application and development of robot assisted renal tumor resection surgery, it is necessary to evaluate and compare the impact of age on the clinical outcomes of robot surgery, including perioperative outcomes and patient survival after surgery. However, the benefits of patients of different ages are still unknown, so it is necessary to conduct retrospective studies on relevant cases in our hospital.
Methods
We collected information on all patients with renal clear cell carcinoma who underwent robotic surgery at Nanjing Gulou Hospital from 2013 to 2023 (n=1965). And only renal cancer patients who did not experience distant metastasis were included in our study.
Results
All patients with renal clear cell carcinoma who underwent robotic surgery at Nanjing Gulou Hospital (n=1965) were included, including 614 patients under 55 years old, 945 patients between 55 and 70 years old, and 460 patients over 70 years old. The clinical staging and pathological grading of tumors vary among different age groups. Among patients over 70 years old, there is a significant increase in patients with advanced clinical staging and pathological grading at level 3. The perioperative data showed that the incidence of grade I or II complications was similar between the two groups, but the incidence of grade III and IV complications in patients over 70 years old was significantly higher than that in patients between 55 and 70 years old or under 55 years old, accounting for 3.1% and 0.9%, respectively, with P<0.01.
Conclusions
Patients of different age groups, especially those over 70 years old, can benefit from robot assisted renal cell carcinoma resection surgery. However, long-term outcomes still need to be followed up and observed, especially in older age groups.
