Expert Video Report in Upper Gastrointestinal Cancers

ESMO Congress 2019

Speaker: Florian Lordick

Reporting from ESMO 2019 Congress, Florian Lordick comments on results from the ATTRACTION-3 positive study with immune checkpoint inhibitor in second-line treatment for metastatic oesophageal squamous cancer that show clinically relevant benefit, although it is necessary to see if the results will translate also into non-Asian populations.
He also discusses 2 presentations from the KEYNOTE-062 study with non-inferior health-related quality-of-life data and a biomarker analysis in first-line treatment for advanced gastric cancer - while no benefit was observed with immunotherapy alone in the overall study population, there was a clear benefit in patients with MSI-high tumours which justifies upfront testing and a specific treatment approach.
