In this Expert report, Caterina Marchiò gives an overview of NTRK gene fusions in cancers.
She presents the physiology and epidemiology aspects of these genetic alterations, details the different diagnostic options to be discussed with the pathologist and explains the strategy for screening. In conclusion, she comments on the mecanisms of resistence to TRK inhibitors, supporting the interest of early comprehensive genomic profiling.
