Disadvantages

In certain circumstances, liquid biopsies may not be as sensitive as IHC or FISH for testing NTRK gene fusions [1, 3]. If circulating DNA and RNA volume is low (e.g., when the tumour volume is low), a test failure or false negative may result. However, enrichment methods (e.g., hybrid capture, etc.) may be used to increase detection [4].
