Abstract CN55
Background
In the project management methodology, the logical framework tool, as part of logical framework approach, is recommended as a highly effective strategic planning tool. It provides an analytical process with a logical analysis monitoring about the activities and desired outcomes. As part of the Educational Program of Specialized Training "Transformative Leadership in Palliative Care" of the Training and Lifelong Learning Center of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a nursing project was developed aiming to increase physical activity in outpatient breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, with the methodology of Logical frame tool.
Methods
Α review of literature has been conducted to identify the verifiable indicators of achievement in physical activity, as well as an assessment of nurses’ educational needs through group discussion, to find out the sources of verifications that can be used. Also, an analysis of objectives and problem/ resolution tree has been completed.
Results
Αn oncology nursing project with a logical frame tool to increase physical activity in women with breast cancer treated in an oncology department has been developed. The following 3 activities have been identified: a) Training of 7 nurses on promoting Physical activity as an important aspect of cancer treatment b) Development of appropriate educational material for patients and health professionals and c) Incorporation of education about enhancing physical activity into cancer care plan. The expected outcomes of project will be improved knowledge of health professionals in management strategies of increasing physical activity, improved patient knowledge regarding the benefits of physical activity and improved information about accessibility to physical activity programs.
Conclusions
Α logical frame can be a powerful strategic tool in planning oncology nursing projects because it summarizes all the key assumptions and external factors of the project and the way outputs and outcomes will be monitored and evaluated.
