Abstract

If colorectal cancer was detected at early stages, it can be cured. However, if detected when distant metastases are present, it becomes less likely to be curable. Metabolomics can profile metabolic changes that occur in living systems in response to various factors. Altered metabolic profiles may provide potential biomarkers for detection, staging, prognostication, and treatment of colorectal cancer.
