Although insufficiency fractures occurring in acetabulum and sacrum following pelvic radiotherapy (PR) are well known, decrease in bone mineral density (BMD) developing in vertebral bones after pelvic radiotherapy (PR) and the risk of insufficiency fracture risk associated with is not well known. The aim of the present study was to investigate the decrease in bone mineral density, osteoporosis and consequent risk of insufficiency fracture in patients undergoing adjuvant radiotherapy after surgical resection.
