Abstract

Drug resistance is one of the main problems associated with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment. Targeting of mTOR pathway is an attractive strategy in the development of therapeutic agents against resistant NSCLC cells. Recently, we have isolated the Bacillus subtilis (BS) as a gram-positive, spore forming, non-pathogenic bacterium isolated from Cheonggukjang, Korean traditional fermented food that might have an apoptotic effects on NSCLC cells through the inhibition of mTOR pathway. In this study, we investigated the growth inhibition effects of BS in NSCLC cell lines via molecular mechanism studies of BS induced apoptosis signaling pathway.
