Abstract

Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) allows more precise radiation delivery to the target volume while minimising dose to normal tissues. IMRT reduces toxicity while maintaining efficacy allowing dose escalation for more advanced tumours. In the UK National Guidance has recently been published. Our study assessed the implementation of these guidelines with particular reference to radiotherapy dose constraints, acute toxicity and response rates.
