Abstract

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is technology which can be used as criteria efficiency of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for cholangiocarcinoma. The prognosis of patients with cholangiocarcinomas is very poor and the first symptom is mechanical jaundice. The percutaneous transhepatic drainage is used in the first stage of treatment. It seemed to be an attractive idea to deliver light directly through the drainage. For doing that it was necessary to determine the possibility of tumor radiation by the semiconductor laser through the catheter wall.
