Abstract

Background

Ovarian cancer is the second most frequently diagnosed malignancies in women worldwide. Despite the recent advances in diagnosis and management, the estimated 5year over-all survival of ovarian malignancies is still

Methods

We do Ultrasound examination in our hospital equipped with convex and transvaginal high frequency transducers for a series suspected cases of ovarian mass The adnexal masses will be described using International Ovarian Tumour Analysis (IOTA) terms and definitions. The results are calculated using App for IOS operating systems by IOTA(Simple rules, Logistic regression 1 and 2 (LR1 and LR2).

Results

The simple rules help to triage the patients and LR2 can be applied to the cases not classified by simple rules.

Conclusions

Transvaginal ultrasonography is an excellent tool for discriminating between benign and malignant adnexal masses but only in the hands of expert examiners. Less experienced examiners might be helped by scoring systems and risk calculation models. In a app friendly world, these models come handy in remote places and in developing countries with lack of expertise at all the levels.
